Green, clean, vegan skincare products are cruelty-free, which means they are not tested on animals. They are also free from animal-derived ingredients, making them suitable for vegans and those who follow a cruelty-free lifestyle.

We believe that taking care of your skin doesn’t have to come at the cost of the environment. By choosing green, clean, vegan, and sustainable skincare products, you can support both your skin and the planet at the same time.

One of our most popular products is in fact GREEN in more than one way. The SuperGreens Botanical face Clay mask with Neroli. It’s all natural with green Clay, Matcha Powder, Sea Kelp and a hint of Neroli Essential oil. It has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. Kelp is known to help remove dead skin cells, hydrate the skin and form a barrier to protect against UVA rays and daily pollution. The mask comes in a glass jar, which is recyclable and reusable.

When it comes to green, clean, sustainable, vegan, and natural skincare, it’s essential to know what ingredients to avoid. Here are some nasties that Zen Soul Studio’s skincare products are free from:

Parabens

Parabens are a group of synthetic preservatives that are commonly used in skincare products. They are known to disrupt hormones and have been linked to breast cancer.

Phthalates

Phthalates are a group of chemicals that are used to soften plastics and as solvents in skincare products. They have been linked to reproductive and developmental issues.

Synthetic Fragrances or dyes

Synthetic fragrances are made from a combination of chemicals and can cause skin irritation and allergic reactions. They can also contain phthalates, which have been linked to health issues. All our Fragarnces are plant derived and Essential oils. We do not use the “perfum”, which on labels cover a multitude of synthetics and often animal derived ingredients.

SLS and SLES

SLS (Sodium Lauryl Sulfate) and SLES (Sodium Laureth Sulfate): These are commonly used as foaming agents in skincare products. However, they can be harsh on the skin and can also have a negative impact on the environment.

PEGs

PEGs are a group of synthetic chemicals that are used in skincare products as emulsifiers, thickeners, and moisturizers. They are derived from petroleum, a non-renewable resource, and can be harmful to both your skin and the environment. PEG petroleum can be contaminated with impurities that are known carcinogens, such as 1,4-dioxane. This impurity can be formed during the manufacturing process of PEGs when they are combined with other chemicals. In addition to being a potential carcinogen, PEG petroleum can also be harsh on the skin, causing irritation, dryness, and even allergic reactions.

Mineral Oil

Mineral oil is a petroleum-derived ingredient that is commonly used in skincare products. It is comedogenic, which means it can clog pores and cause acne, as it prevents skin form breathing. They have been linked to reproductive and developmental toxicity and can also have a negative impact on the environment.

Retinol

Retinol is a vitamin A derivative that is commonly used in skincare products to improve the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and age spots. It works by increasing cell turnover and collagen production, which can help to reduce the signs of aging. While retinol can be an effective ingredient for improving the appearance of the skin, it can also cause irritation and dryness, especially for those with sensitive skin. It can also make the skin more sensitive to the sun, which can increase the risk of sun damage and skin cancer. In addition, retinol is often derived from animal sources, such as liver, making it unsuitable for vegans and those who follow a plant-based lifestyle. For those who want to use a green, clean, vegan skincare product.

We use Nature’s alternative Bio Bakuchiol with watermelon. It contains both Bakuchiol – Nature’s Retinol and Rosehip oil, which unlike the other retinol alternatives behave in a similar way to retinol on the skin, rosehip oil contains a small concentration of retinoic acid, the by-product of vitamin A production.  It’s packaged in a glass bottle with a dropper, making it easy to use and eco-friendly.
